Buffalo, NY – The first Vocation Summit in DENA for this academic year, took place on October 24 at St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute in Buffalo, NY. Twenty-eight students in grades 9-12 from Pittsburgh Central Catholic, De La Salle Collegiate in Detroit, and St. Joe’s Collegiate Institute in Buffalo came together to explore what it might be that God is calling them to become in the future. Mr. Anthony Shilen, Science Teacher and Lay Vocation Coordinator at St. Joe’s, Bro. Joseph Wilkowski, Math and Science Teacher at St. Joe’s, and Fr. Andrew Lauracelli, Vocation Director for the Diocese of Buffalo, were the three men who told their own vocation stories at this event. This was followed by lively group discussions among the students and a good Q & A session with the presenters. Special thanks are in order to Bro. Steven Barbaro-Pittsburgh Central Catholic, Bro. Ken Kalinowski and Mr. John Berlin-De La Salle Detroit and Mr. Tony Shilen-St. Joe’s Buffalo for all they did to help behind the scenes to make this event possible.
