St. John’s College HS is the setting for the Distinguished Lasallian Educators Banquet

11/19/11 – Washington, DC – Each year, the USA-Toronto Region hosts its Huether Lasallian Conference, this year at the L’Enfant Plaza Hotel, Washington, DC. With Faith in Action: Civic Engagement through Lasallian Education as the central theme, workshops and presentations focused on our call as Lasallians to work for social justice, educate students how to be civic minded, and other subjects dealing with advocacy and service to the poor.

As part of the Conference, the Visitors of the Districts that comprise the USA-Toronto Region, came together to sign a statement on November 19, 2011 advocating for the promotion and protection of the rights of children and committing themselves to helping children achieve their full human dignity.

The Huether Conference concludes with the Distinguished Lasallian Educators Banquet, hosted by our very own St. John’s College High School. Starting with mass, followed by a social before dinner, Lasallians from across the country have the opportunity to discuss the weekend and strengthen there Lasallian connections. One of the District of Eastern North America’s Distinguished Lasallian Educators, Michael Foley, even got a surprise visit by students from Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School, all the way from Brooklyn!

A special congratulations to Distinguished Lasallian Educators:

  • Mr. Michael Foley – Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School

  • Br. Michael McKenery – La Salle Academy, Providence

  • Dr. William Price – La Salle University

and a special congratulations to Br. Frederick Mueller, recipient of the Region’s Brother John Johnston Award
