6/29/2011 – Lincroft, NJ —The Mothers’ Club of Christian Brothers Academy decided to commemorate their long-time moderator, Brother Andrew O’Gara, FSC after his death by commissioning an original work of art. The vision given to the artist, Brother Michael McGrath, OSFS was to create an image of a teenaged Jesus with a middle aged Madonna, a stage of their lives not often commemorated in art but one which is very relevant to a high school community. McGrath’s tender portrayal, using intense blues and complex flower symbolism, was unveiled in the spring of 2009. It has recently been selected as the cover for the July issue of the St. Anthony Messenger, a national Catholic magazine.
