Rome, Italy – The Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools during its 45th General Chapter in Rome has elected Br. Jorge Gallardo de Alba to the mission of Vicar General.
Brother Jorge Gallardo was born in 1959 in San Juan de los Lagos, Mexico. He made his final profession in 1985. In his early years he worked as a teacher in his own country, and later studied Theology in Mexico, and English in California.
From 1989 to 2007 he held the roles of teacher, school director and president of the Delegation of Japan. In 2007 he was elected Resident General Councilor in Rome, taking special responsibility in the field of solidarity and development, with a specific mission in the inter-congregational project in South Sudan.
Members of the Lasallian Region of North America (RELAN) may know Br. Jorge most recently from his November 2012 keynote address at the Huether Lasallian Conference in Washinton, DC.
Br. Jorge will succeed Br. Thomas Johnson of the Midwest District as Vicar General. We thank Br. Thomas for the excellent work done in the last seven years and look forward to welcoming him home to the U.S.
