In a message to the La Salle Academy community, Br. Thomas was pleased to share the news of Dennis’ appointment. “Our new President and I have worked together for many years. I have every confidence you will come to admire him and respect his abilities as I do. We are blessed to have him join the La Salle Academy community.”

A Brother for 45 years, Malloy has not only headed De La Salle Vocational School  in Bensalem, PA, for eleven years (1989-2000) but was named the Executive Director of the entire St. Gabriel’s System, a Division of Catholic Social Services, for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia (2000-2007), part of the Lasallian Association of Youth and Family Services (LAYFS). Br. Dennis also served as Visitor for the now Legacy Baltimore District (2007-2009) and the first Visitor for the District of Eastern North America (DENA) created in 2009, and elected to a second term in 2013.

As Provincial of the Brothers of the Christian Schools of the District of Eastern North America (DENA), I am pleased to share with you some very good news. Following the recommendation of the Board of Trustees of La Salle Academy, Providence, RI, and with the confirmation given by the District’s Ministry Corporation, I am delighted to announce that I have appointed Brother Dennis Malloy, FSC as the next President of La Salle Academy, effective July 1, 2019. Members of the Board of Trustees at La Salle met with Brother Dennis this month and were very impressed with his extensive administrative experience, both in the social service agencies where he served as Chief Administrator and as Provincial of the Christian Brothers. They have shared their full confidence that he is an excellent choice.

Brother Dennis Malloy will bring many gifts to La Salle Academy. He is passionately committed to the Lasallian Catholic Mission, has a wonderful ability to articulate the values and vision of Lasallian education, understands school culture and organizational design, knows and respects the work done by Lasallian educators, and last but not least, has a deep affection for young people and an appreciation of their hopes, their challenges, and their needs.

Brother Dennis is presently in Europe on special assignment from our Superior General serving the District of Ireland, England and the Island of Malta. We look forward to welcoming him back home to the District of Eastern North America. We know he will, in partnership with many, continue to steward a hope-filled future for La Salle with enthusiasm and a faith-filled sense that it is God’s work that unfolds each day at the corner of Smith Street and Academy Avenue in Providence.

We are deeply grateful for the excellent service of Brother Thomas Gerrow these past eight years and believe that Brother Dennis Malloy will add to the many accomplishments that Brother Thomas achieved for the La Salle community during his tenure.

I know that you will join me as we thank Brother Tom and welcome Brother Dennis.

Brother Dennis Lee, FSC
