Saida, Lebanon – The “Fratelli” project is continuing. The inter-congregational community of De La Salle and Marist Brothers is maintaining its commitment to working for the refugees. It is our small contribution to the “choral response” asked for by Pope Francis.

Brother Rafa Matas, the General Councilor responsible for supporting this new community, has just completed his first visit there. It was an opportunity to learn about the  realities of life for the community, which has now moved to its permanent location in Rmeyleh near Saida (the Sidon of the Bible). It is a new commitment that has been undertaken, following on the work of “Fratelli-INSAN” in Beirut which has been receiving Iraqi children for the past few months.

This new phase receives children from Syria who are in Saida and the surrounding area. The project is gradually taking shape with the help of all the Marist and De La Salle educational communities of Lebanon. Brother Rafa took the opportunity to have fraternal meetings with the Brothers of both Congregations in Lebanon.
