Calvert Hall continues partnership with MIX 106.5 FM

11/14/11 – Towson MD – This year, the Calvert Hall College High School community will hold its Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive November 14-21st and have its Thanksgiving Liturgy on November 22nd. Last year, Calvert Hall raised nearly 18,000 non-perishable food items for needy families and individuals in the Baltimore area. The 2011-2012 school year offers another opportunity for the school community to collect cans and other non-perishable items for our local food bank agencies.

The theme of this year’s Calvert Hall Thanksgiving season is: A Place at the Table, and as Christians, Calvert Hall values the call to invite those less fortunate than ourselves to the table of bounty. This year, the students will be challenging each other in a friendly grade-level competition of who can collect the most food items for our community. Four transportable storage units, which have been generously donated by ABF U-Pack Moving, will be prominently placed in the school’s plaza, and students will be filling the units the week before Thanksgiving. After weighing the storage containers, the winning grade will be determined by the heaviest storage unit.

The Baltimore-area agencies that will benefit from Calvert Hall’s efforts include St. Vincent de Paul programs: Beans and Bread, St. Ambrose and Sarah’s Hope. Added to the list of agencies that will be aided through donations, are the Women’s Housing Coalition and Catholic Charities’ Our Daily Bread, a new partnership that Calvert Hall has begun this year. Catholic Charity programs that will also benefit include My Sister’s Place and St. Christopher’s Academy. Check out photos from Calvert Hall student Evan Zimmer

Calvert Hall will also be teaming with MIX 106.5 again this year for the 18th Annual Stuff A Bus from 9am-6pm on November 12th and 9am-5pm on November 13th at Wegmans in Hunt Valley. Faculty/staff, student and parent volunteers will be on hand from Calvert Hall to help MIX 106.5 fill the MTA bus on location in Hunt Valley to support the Maryland Food Bank. Donations can also be made at the Wegmans in Bel Air and will be delivered to Hunt Valley.
