Calvert Hall student Honored in Independent Schools Art Competition in Landon

Calvert Hall senior Thomas Buttion won 2nd place – Drawing in the Landon School’s 2013 Best of the Independent Schools Art Competition. The Competition, now in its seventh year, covers five categories: mixed-media, drawing, painting, photography and sculpture

The winners were announced at a Reception in the Landow Family Gallery on Landon’s campus on March 17.

This year’s competition drew hundreds of submissions from area independent schools. Eighty-three artists were selected as finalists. Homer Yost, an accomplished sculptor, juried the Competition. Walt Bartman, chair of the Studio Arts department at Landon, organized the event. The Competition is sponsored by the Landon Fathers Club.
