Washington DC – On Friday, April 15 at 9 am, His Eminence Donald Cardinal Wuerl, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Washington, visited San Miguel School to say Mass, meet with students, and learn more about the school’s unique program. This visit was the Cardinal’s first to San Miguel, and comes just weeks before Catholics from across the archdiocese come together to support the San Miguel Annual Scholarship Benefit on May 21 at The Washington Hilton.
“We are thrilled for our students to have an opportunity to meet Cardinal Wuerl and join with him in prayer this week. Inviting the Cardinal for Mass is just one of many ways that our San Miguel community lives out its Catholic identity and rich Lasallian heritage,” said San Miguel Principal David Palank.
“Cardinal Wuerl is a great advocate of Catholic education and of service to the poor. As head of archdiocese, he understands our mission of serving students and families most in need.” Don Mullikin, school President, added, “Our boys and their families are grateful for the Catholic education San Miguel provides and which they otherwise could not afford,” he said. The Archdiocese of Washington and San Miguel School have seen the impact of Catholic education firsthand and are jointly committed to making it accessible for all families.
“We were fortunate to celebrate mass with Donald Cardinal Wuerl at San Miguel School Washington. Cardinal Wuerl was quite engaging with our students, impactful in his homily, and uplifting in his approach with our students when meeting with them,” said Mullikin
