2/5/13 – Dewitt, NY — Christian Brothers Academy held a Multicultural Assembly on Tuesday, February 5, 2013. The entire student body gathered to celebrate different cultures from around the world. The assembly included a vast array of student performers such as Irish dancers, Salsa dancers, a ballet number, and Middle Eastern dancers, just to name a few.

Vocalist Breanna Tarnawsky sang a song, called “Unity” which was composed by fellow student and pianist Emery Lawrence. Phil Parkes played the cello, while Emily Robison played the flute. To recognize and celebrate Black History month, the Select Chorus sang “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”

Zihan Liu and Xinwei Wang, two of CBA’s six international students, gave a presentation on China. Junior Jovan Diaz read a Spanish poem titled “El Olvido.” Diaz’ parents are from Puerto Rico.

Junior Anna Do, whose father is from Vietnam, performed a traditional Vietnamese dance, along with senior Helen Nguyen. Preme Artsomboon and Sone Angubokul, who are both from Thailand, performed a Thai dance.

The CBA Dance team also performed a routine to Michael Jackson’s “Man In The Mirror.” Vanessa Johnson, a professional storyteller, historian, writer and mixed media artist was the special guest.

The celebration concluded with a special tribute to the flags of the world.
