12/20/12 – DeWitt, NY— Twenty-four seventh and eighth graders participated in Jr. High Lasallian Service Day at Destiny USA on Sunday, Dec. 16, collecting donations for Camp Good Days and Special Times.

Camp Good Days and Special Times is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for children, adults and families whose lives have been touched by cancer and other life challenges.

Students all dressed up in their CBA apparel, took shifts between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. and collected approximately $1,500, which will allow children with cancer to attend camp for free. Faculty members Sue Major, Br. Timothy Jones and Sr. Suzanne Dunn, OSF assisted the students.

“This is the first year that we have done this project,” shared Major. “Prior to the service day, Claire McKenney from Camp Good Days came to one of our meetings to explain what Camp Good Days is all about. We asked the seventh and eighth graders to volunteer to take a spot and they did so very quickly.”

“The Camp Good Days staff and volunteers who worked with our students that day complemented how kind and gracious they were,” Major added. “That’s a highlight for us too. We are proud of them.”
