Dewitt, NY – Christian Brothers Academy students in every homeroom uniquely decorated shoe boxes and filled them with art supplies as part of this year’s Lenten Drive.
One hundred “Boxes of Dreams” were delivered to Vera House recently. The boxes, filled with coloring tools from crayons, to stencils, to coloring books, will benefit children in need of psychological/emotional therapy. Vera House, a local organization, is dedicated to putting an end to violence and abuse throughout the community. They provide service to all age groups, from infants to adults, and have many areas of specialty care. Art therapy is a growing method of care that Vera House utilizes, especially for children.
Sophomore Emily Humphrey came up with the idea for the “dream” boxes and presented it to the Peer Ministers.
Hood Shoe Company (www.hoodshoecompany.com), owned by Patrick Barnaba ‘17, donated the shoe boxes and collaborated with Peer Ministry to bring this drive to fruition. For any purchase through Hood Shoe Company during the Lenten season, a $10 donation was made to Vera House, in the buyer’s name.
