CBA students toured the Vatican on their trip to Rome over winter break. CBA students had an opportunity to learn more about the cultures of Spain and Italy as they traveled abroad during winter break.
Seniors Luke Brown (Syracuse), Laura Heinrich (Dewitt), Amanda Ojugbeli (Chittenango), and Rebecca Vignogna (Camillus); juniors Allee Eber (Syracuse), Lindsey Evans (Camillus), Jess Prucha (Jamesville), Katie Rivito (Syracuse), and sophomores Christine Calim-lim (Jamesville), Eric Goodwin (Mattydale), Molly Reff (Syracuse) and Dan Robinson (Marathon) participated in educational activities while touring the cities of Madrid, Barcelona, Florence, Pisa and Rome this past February.
CBA parent Caroline Calim-lim and faculty members Christine Gravelle and Vivianne Saba accompanied the students on the trip.
In Madrid, students visited the Royal Palace, the Prado Museum, the Reina Sofía Museum, the Plaza Mayor and the Plaza de Toros. They also attended a cooking school where, under the guidance of master chefs, prepared authentic Spanish dishes that included paella valenciana and tortilla española. Students then boarded the AVE high-speed train to Barcelona, where they visited the Sagrada Familia Basilica, the Picasso Museum, Casa Mila, Parc Guell, Montjuic, the Olympic Village and the Spanish Village.
The students then ventured to Tuscany, where they learned about Michaelangelo’s David at the Ufizzi Gallery in Florence and visited the nearby Leaning Tower of Pisa before going on to Rome. In Rome, the city tour included the Vatican, the Sistine Chapel, the Coliseum, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, the Piazza Navona, the Spanish Steps and the Roman ruins.
