Dewitt, NY – Christian Brothers Academy senior Nikita Sharkey placed first in the Shakespeare Competition, held at the school on Thursday, Jan. 18.
Sharkey advances to the Regional Competition, which will take place at Syracuse Stage on Saturday, March 11 at 9:00 a.m.
The Shakespeare Competition is sponsored by the English Speaking Union of the United States. Competitors perform a Shakespearean monologue in such a way that reveals understanding through expression and communication. At the regional level, all competitors deliver a Shakespearean Sonnet in addition to their monologue.
The regional winner advances to the National Competition in New York City.
Senior Chiara Corey placed second, while senior Cydavia Patterson and junior Olivia Moffa both placed third.
