Host Christian Brothers Academy (Albany) used a strong third quarter to come away with a 66-53 victory over St. Peter’s Boys High School (Staten Island) in the final of the CBA Holiday Tournament Wednesday. CBA shot close to 60 percent and increased a six-point lead to 18 during a hot-shooting third quarter.

The dominating inside play of forward Reginald Agbeko and the defensive pressure of the St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute (Buffalo) backcourt put the celebration for head coach Buddy Wleklinski at Christian Brothers Academy (Syracuse) on standby.

The Marauders got 30 points from Agbeko and rallied behind its suffocating full-court defensive pressure to defeat the Brothers 69-64 Friday night in the championship game of CBA’s Holiday Classic.

The Brothers had hoped to give Wleklinski his 400th coaching victory. They’ll try again next Friday at Chittenango.
