Lincroft, NJ – As part of their Catholic Schools Week festivities, Christian Brothers Academy, Lincroft, NJ, hosted Sister Helen Prejean, CSJ, author of “Dead Man Walking: An Eyewitness Account of the Death Penalty in the United States.” Sister spoke to a school-wide assembly. Parents and alumni were also in attendance along with six members of the De La Salle Hall Community. These Brothers were accompanied by CBA students who sat with them during the presentation. Brother Thomas Caldwell had the honor of meeting Sister and engaging her in conversation.

Sister Helen engaged the assembly with her friendly manner and wit. She encouraged all to be inspired by the compassion of Jesus as she shared her belief in the dignity of all people. Sister was able to field several thought provoking and well received questions posed by students. She received a standing ovation and remained afterwards to sign her book for those interested.

“People are more than the worst thing they have done in their lives.” (Sr. Helen)
