Washington, DC – From November 3-9, the Church and Religious Orders are celebrating National Vocation Awareness Week. “An annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promote vocations to the priesthood, diaconate and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.” The Office of Brothers’ Vocations for the Lasallian Region of North America has released a new video showcasing the Christian Brothers and their vocation of education.
Along with the video, Vocation Coordinators for the District of Eastern North America have compiled resources to be used by Lasallian educators and promoters alike, not just this week, but throughout the year. Special thanks to Lew Clark of La Salle College High School and all vocation coordinators at DENA’s ministries for their work in creating communities of invitation to consider a religious vocation.
- The regional office for Brothers’ vocations has produced a web site with information and ideas on how to promote Vocation Awareness Week.
- Information and resources are also available at the National Religious Vocation Conference’s website.
- Many teachers are looking for prayers to use to begin class. Consider sending this link to faculty with prayers for vocations from the USCCB website.
