3/4/2011- Washington, DC – On Friday, March 4, St. John’s College High School Spanish students successfully participated in a face-to-face encounter with English students from Instituto Pedagógico, a De La Salle school in Managua, Nicaragua. The students from both schools signed on to Skype so they could communicate and see one another through the Internet.
Under the leadership of Ms. Covarrubias, the members of the St. John’s language department joined efforts to generate a lesson plan for this opening session. The goal of this first session was to help the students in both cities gain a better understanding of each other’s daily routine and classroom experiences. Students in Heritage Spanish and AP Spanish were the first to participate.
It was a wonderful experience for our students to connect with students abroad without travel. Click here for theYou Tube Video recorded by St. John’s to see a small clip from the session on Friday.
