Bedford Park, NY – The Bedford Park community recently welcomed its third refugee in as many years. The community cooperates with the International Rescue Committee by giving temporary lodging to a refugee that the IRC is helping on language, job, and education. Philemon has made his way over six years to the USA from Cameroon after walking through several countries in Africa and after a chance meeting with a refugee group in Morocco. He is very religious and loves to sing the praise of the Lord. He is aware of the work of the De La Salle Brothers in Douala, Cameroon. For us it is an honor to help him with room and board. We feel we are at least doing something about the worldwide crisis. Both our Superior General and our Pope love the idea.
