Eatontown, NJ – The Brothers of DENA distributed almost $200,000 to ministries and non-profits from the stimulus checks we received during the spring months. Each of the approximately 40 grant proposals were awarded to assist non-profits and families take care of the basic human needs of food, shelter, clothing during an especially challenging time.
Here are two thank you letters and one photo which represent the dozens received over the past few months. One letter is from Jeevan Jyothi Hospice in India, the other letter from the Missionaries of Charity, Asbury Park (NJ), and a photo from P.O.T.S (Part of the Solution–social service agency) in the Bronx. We’ve had Lasallian Volunteers ministering at POTS for several years now.
It’s far from certain, but we are preparing for the possibility of additional stimulus checks being issued down the line.
This letter came from India:
Dear Bro. Craig,
Greetings to you from Jeevan Jyothi Hospice. The pandemic of covid-19 continues to affect many people specially the poor. We continue to support the poor with nutrition and other needs. During the month of October we supported 50 families with Rice 5kg, groceries worth Rs.1890/-. Our target group this time was widows who are HIV positive and we identified a new tribal settlement who needed our support very badly and few old-aged people. They were very happy with the nutrition support they got. Next our plan is to identify the number of children among the tribals and others who need clothes & toilet articles. After the survey we will buy the clothes according to the age of the children and distribute them. Once again I thank you very much for your timely support for humanitarian relief. I thank God for you all the support I receive and I trust in His Divine providence.
With Love & Prayers,
Your Sister, Sr. Anastasia
