12/20/2010 – Woonsocket, RI – On December 20th Brother Michael Reis, the founder of Tides Family Services in West Warwick , Rhode Island, was presented a $22,000 grant from CVS/Caremark’s CEO Tom Ryan at a ceremony in the pharmacy giant’s national headquarters in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. Tides was one of 62 non-profits receiving grants this year.
The CVS/Caremark Charity Classic is the state’s largest charitible sporting event and donated more than $1.3 million in contributions this year to the non-profits of Rhode Island.
The grant was given to Tides because of their designation as a working charity at the CVS/Caremark’s Charity Classic Golf Tournament which was held last June at the RI Country Club in Barrington, Rhode Island. Over 40 Tides staff voluntered to work in 92 degree temperatures over the three day period of the golf tournament. Their job assignment was to park nearly 1,000 cars each day in the VIP areas adjacent to the RI Country Club.
CVS/Caremark CEO Tom Ryan personnally met with Brother Michael (pictured) and congratulated him for the work which Tides performs with disadvantaged youth and their families throughout the urban core areas of Rhode Island. Tides now has three major offices in the Ocean State with two satellite locations. It plans to open an additional satellite in the Newport area in 2011.
