De La Salle graduates help current students in the Extended Day Program. Here graduate Jordy, left, a junior at Kellenberg, assists 8th grade student Franklin with his homework.

Freeport, NY – Graduation does not end the ministry to the students of The De La Salle School.  De La Salle continue to offer educational support to all of its graduates through the Graduate Support Program with some financial assistance to those attending Catholic high schools. The efforts are successful. Alumni have a 100% high school graduation rate and over 20 of the alumni currently attending high school have achieved a position on their school’s honor roll. Graduates of The De La Salle School currently attend the following high schools: Chaminade High School, Kellenberg Memorial High School, Holy Trinity Diocesan High School, Regis High School, Saint Anthony’s High School and Saint Mary’s High School.  Some of the students have enrolled in their district high schools: Freeport, Hempstead, Roosevelt and Uniondale.

All of the alumni are invited back for Study Hall on Tuesday evening from 5-8 PM, under the guidance of our Graduate Support Director, Mr. Kevin Rall. Students are provided with an opportunity for mentoring, tutoring and group study. Like all good Lasallians, socialization is an important component of the program, providing them with a light supper and an opportunity for some recreation as well.

A new program instituted last year for the high school sophomores and juniors is the SAT prep course given by the Americana Student Center. This 10-week course as well as the SAT test is fully funded by The De La Salle School with no cost to the students’ families. This is a program opens up all kinds of opportunities and endless possibilities to the young men who are part of the De La Salle family.

Colleges and Universities are now in the process of mailing out their acceptance letters to high school seniors.  Please keep in your prayers alumni from The De La Salle School who have applied to: Hofstra University, John Jay College, Manhattan College, Molloy College, New York Institute of Technology, Siena College, St. John’s University, Steven’s Institute of Technology and the University of Connecticut.
