1827: This was the birthdate of Brother Francis (McMullen). Of the five young men who volunteered to venture to Montreal 1842 to be trained as the first American Lasallian vocations in the U.S., he was the only one who persevered. He would return to Calvert Hall (Baltimore) in 1845 to help launch the first permanent Lasallian ministry in the U.S.
