1929: With its 1865 charter, Rock Hill College (Ellicott City, MD) was a very early Lasallian ministry of higher education in the U.S. It burned and closed forever in 1923. That charter, however, was transferred on this date, via a name change, to the new De La Salle College (a house of studies) which technically stood in Maryland but used a Washington, D.C. postal address.
