18 Year Lasallian Educator tapped as Associate Director for office animating Christian Brothers’ mission throughout the Northeast
Eatontown, NJ – The Brothers of the Christian Schools – District of Eastern North America (DENA), is proud to announce Ms. Kerry M. Conroy as their selection for Associate Director of the Office for Mission and Ministry. Ms. Conroy will step into the new position September 1, 2018.
An eighteen year Lasallian Educator, Ms. Conroy has served the educational community at La Salle Academy in New York City since 1999. She began as a Lasallian Volunteer, and subsequently has been a Guidance Counselor (including leading that department) and administrator (Assistant Principal before her current service as Principal and Vice President for Academic Affairs). Under her leadership, there has been an expansion of academic programming and educational partnerships for La Salle’s students.
“We are elated that Kerry Conroy will be joining our District team,” said Brother Dennis Lee, FSC, the Provincial/Visitor for DENA. “Ms. Conroy’s skills as a gifted administrator coupled with her long standing dedication and understanding of our Lasallian educational mission will have an immediate impact throughout our wider District family of ministries.”
“I am honored to have been chosen to join the District’s Office for Mission and Ministry,” said Conroy. “I am excited to take on this new endeavor in furthering the mission of St. La Salle throughout DENA. I am grateful for all of the experience La Salle Academy has given me, having ultimately prepared me for the path ahead.”
“With her strong resume of administrative credentials, and continual zeal for Lasallian education, Kerry Conroy was a natural choice for the Associate Director position,” said Mr. Alan Weyland, Executive Director of the District’s Office for Mission and Ministry. “Her deep understanding of our Lasallian mission, charism, and pedagogy will serve Ms. Conroy, and more importantly, our ministries, well, in the continued animation of a Christian education for the young, especially the poor.”
“I am very pleased that Kerry accepted the position of Associate Director,” said Ms. Maryann Donohue-Lynch, Associate Executive Director of the Office for Mission and Ministry. “As we launch DENA’s new Strategic Plan, Kerry brings a great depth of experience and a joyous personal commitment to the Lasallian mission. I am looking forward to welcoming her, working with her, and having her be a part of our District team!”
No stranger to the Christian Brothers, Ms. Conroy earned her BA in Religion and Philosophy in 1999 at Christian Brothers University, a Lasallian educational ministry in Memphis, TN. Conroy would also earn her Masters in School Counseling (2004), and Professional Diplomas in School Counseling (2008), and School Building Leadership (2014), from Manhattan College, a Lasallian educational ministry, in Riverdale, NY, part of the DENA family. Driven by her passion for serving the underserved, Conroy has attended many Lasallian educational and formation workshops including the Lasallian Leadership Institute and Buttimer Institute of Lasallian Studies. She also has served the District in previous volunteer capacities as a Lasallian Mission Assessment Program visiting team member, helping to assess and implement consistent guidelines for each of the District’s more than 35 ministries.
“I look forward to the opportunity to come to know the many other amazing ministries throughout DENA,” Conroy said. “While La Salle Academy will always be my home and I am saddened to leave, there is amazing work being done, and I am grateful to be a part of it.”
Kerry,
I am so happy for you–so happy for all of us!–as you accept this position and its call to serve the mission with the intelligence, heart, zeal, and courage that gives us such hope for the future.
