Comberland, RI – The Diocesan Youth Day is an annual event sponsored by the Diocese of Providence. This year the day was held at Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Cumberland, RI. Over 200 youngsters participated in the day which consisted of prayer, talks, games and Mass. The liturgy was celebrated by Bishop Thomas Tobin. John Cooney, who attended the Called To Rise Evening in Narragansett in June, was one of the workshop leaders. John is a graduate of St. Raphael Academy. Br. Ed Shields, serving as the District’s Called To Rise coordinator, and speak with young people and young professionals about vocation and God’s call in their lives, was on hand during the event. Lasallians, Steve Vargas from St. Raphael Academy and Greg Albanese from La Salle Academy, were members of the DYD committee, coordinating the event.
