Mission Executive Council
Since 1974, John Wilcox, PhD has been an invaluable member of the academic community of Manhattan College, serving his colleagues and students as teacher, Director of the Center for Professional Ethics, Chair of the Religious Studies Department, Vice President for Mission, and currently, the Director of Lasallian Studies. He is perceived on campus as a dedicated person who contributes mightily to the Lasallian vision and mission of the College, most significantly in its religious and ethical dimension.
As an academic professional, his commitment is characterized by an ecumenical and broadly based search for the truth, enriching the Lasallian family by his evident “love of learning and love of the learner.” John understands, supports, and enhances the Catholic identity of Manhattan College, and the Lasallian Mission, and in the process, performs a distinctive service for the Church. The many who come in contact with the College’s 1996-97 Distinguished Lasallian Educator, whether in routine daily encounters, in formal advisement situations, or on the Mission Executive Council, see a man with a clear set of core values, a welcoming nature, and most importantly, a genuine concern for persons.
