Three Brothers are celebrated as they approach milestone birthday
On Wednesday April 4th, Manhattan College celebrated the life and legacy of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, founder of The Brothers of The Christian Schools. As part of the day long festivities, three Christian Brothers were also celebrated for their legacies at the College, and as men of the Institute.
Brother Francis Bowers, FSC, Brother Christopher Dardis, FSC, and Brother Patrick Dowd, FSC were honored during the Mass of the Founder, as these Brothers celebrate their 90th birthdays this year. All recognized for their long standing service as teachers throughout the New York-New Jersey metropolitan area, Brother Francis received special congratualtions for his 50 years of service to the College. Junior and Contact in the Brothers Vocation Program Jeff Sidoti, inan address to the Manhattan College community, thanked Brother Francis and the Christian Brothers on behalf of the student body.
“The Christian Brothers are the very bedrock on which our beloved College is built. …all the Christian Brothers make Manhattan College a truly special place, unlike any other. It is appropriate, therefore that we celebrate Brother Francis, and all our Christian Brothers…on the day of our Founder, Saint John Baptist de La Salle.”
