From the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops
Archbishop José H. Gomez of Los Angeles, vice-president of the USCCB has called on the bishops to consider taking up a special collection in response to the recent devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey. Funds given to the collection will support the humanitarian and recovery efforts of Catholic Charities USA and will provide pastoral and rebuilding support to impacted dioceses through the USCCB.

From the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops
Through Catholic Charities and other ministries, dioceses throughout Texas are providing basic humanitarian and pastoral support to thousands of Texans affected by Hurricane Harvey. The Texas bishops are coordinating efforts with Catholic Charities USA and local civic authorities. This page will be updated as the situation develops. Currently we request people join in prayer for the coastal and inland areas being affected, and consider donating money to local dioceses and Catholic Charities.

Lasallians in Houston devastated by HarveY!!!
[HOUSTON – USA] “We’re safe but still in shock, haven’t slept much. It’s a total lost. The De La Salle Chapel, De La Salle Educational Center and our house are gone. I’m trying to stay strong but kind a hard. Don’t know what to do.? These past three days, lots of volunteers came and help us cleaning up the places … please pray for us …”

The De La Salle Vietnamese School and the Lasallian Sisters in Cypress, Texas have been devastated by HARVEY. The Lasallian Sisters, founded in Vietnam, conduct their educational ministry in Houston, Texas especially with Vietnamese children ages 5-14. They provide a language immersion educational program for quick, young minds, while emphasizing the values of Vietnam, including hard work, studiousness and respect for one’s elders.
Teaching in the tradition of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, willing students of all faiths are welcome. Classes are held on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to noon, from September to May. The school’s Principal is Sister Thérèse Đê Tạ Thị Thoa, LS.S. (Sister Thoa).
