Christian Brothers’ Regional Office unveils its new interactive website about the life of The Institute’s Founderfootsteps-dls

5/15/12 – Washington, DC —The Lasallian Region of North America – Christian Brothers Conference Office unveiled In the Footsteps of De La Salle website today, notably on the Feast Day of John Baptist de La Salle, Patron Saint of Teachers, and Founder of The Brothers of the Christian Schools. This interactive, and comprehensive project, over three years in the making, is a virtual pilgrimage of the major Lasallian historical sites in France, with Brother Gerard Rummery as your guide.

The purpose of the site is to build interest in St. John Baptist de La Salle, his life and his charism. Visitors will be able to explore the places in France where St. John Baptist de La Salle lived and brought the Lasallian mission to life. The website is a beta version, and further information and elements will be added to it as they become available. Those involved in Lasallian ministry will be able to learn about De La Salle and his life in a variety of ways, from photos and video, to interactive timelines and maps, bringing the Founder’s vocation journey to life. This educational, Lasallian venture is sponsored by the Christian Brother Conference Regional Office and the Lasallian Colleges & Universities in the United States (Saint Mary’s College, Saint Mary’s University, Lewis University, Christian Brothers University, and DENA’s La Salle University and Manhattan College).

The website was designed and developed by Al Cassidy and envisioned by Br. George Van Grieken, with filming by Br. Roch Dufresne.
