Worldwide, there are now 16,681 Christian Brothers with vows. If novices are included, this brings the total to 17,981. Students in Lasallian schools total 704,586.

US Districts Among World’s Largest

The largest of the 71 districts in the Lasallian world are: New York District (636 Brothers in vows); North Belgium (540); Vallodolid [Spain] (529); and Baltimore (522). LI-NE has 305 Brothers with vows.

Nigerian Schools Staffed

The Christian Brothers from the Toronto District have been directing and staffing teachers’ colleges, high schools, and technical schools in Nigeria and in the Cameroons (Africa).

50 Years for 1st Australian Brother

This year is the 50th anniversary of the first Australian, Br. Benildus Joseph, to have entered the institute.

Philippines Brother Pioneer Dies

The last of the pioneers of the Brothers’ foundation in the Philippines, Br. C. John (Celta Ultan), died on April 17. He was sent to the Philippines with the original group of nine Brothers in 1911 to open a school at Paco, Manila.
