President of Ireland, Pilgrimage to Motherhouse
The July 1962 issue of the Institute Bulletin briefly described the pilgrimage to Rome (and to the Brothers’ Generalate—that is, their international headquarters) by President Eamon de Valera of Ireland in March 1962. This special journey was in commemoration of the 1,500th anniversary of the death of St. Patrick. In this photo, President de Valera is signing the guestbook at the Generalate; Bro. Charles Henry (Buttimer), Assistant Superior General and former provincial of the LI-NE District, is second from the left.

Second Vatican Council to Convene

Members of the Catholic hierarchy of Algeria will reside at the international headquarters (Generalate) of the Brothers in Rome during the Council.
