Under the leadership of President Theodore Roosevelt, the White House Conference on the Care of Dependent Children was convened in Washington, D.C., with nearly 250 childcare professionals invited by the President. One of these authorities was Brother Barnabas Edward of the New York District, a well-known advocate for the proper education and housing of at-risk youth and synonymous with Lincoln Agricultural School and Lincoln Hall.
