Faulty electric lights on a live Christmas tree on the first floor of St. Francis Vocational School (Eddington, PA) sparked a fire, with flames spreading to the third floor. No one was seriously injured because most of the resident students were scheduled to return from their Christmas vacation later that day. St. Francis was a school for at-risk youth of the Philadelphia area.
