Dear Brothers and Lasallians,
Charlie Barbush has now had two weeks at the Methodist Home and he continues to make progress.
- Deescalating from COVID. A month ago, as parts of Europe were planning to transition from very strong lockdown restrictions, an article appeared in the Spanish Journal Vida Religiosa with some reflections for religious to consider as they transition to a post-Covid world begins to emerge. Perhaps as we begin that process in parts of DENA, the words of Father Luis Alberto Gonzalez Diez, CMF, might strike a chord with our own ongoing reflections. The article was translated by Anwar Martinez, and Bob Schaefer brought this reflection to our attention; thank you both.
- Sharing Our Own Reflections. During this extended uncertain time, we continue to invite any among us who would like, to share some of your own insights with our DENA communities, reflections and/or inspirations. It could be what you are doing during this crisis or perhaps what this crisis is doing to you. Thank you to jubilarian, Peter Iorlano for this wonderful reflection.
- Chefcast. We continue to enjoy the culinary talents within our District. Today, we are treated to slow-cooked short ribs from our Bedford Park community. Great teamwork! Thanks to Br. Ed Phelan for sharing with us.
Relating to the events of the past three weeks:
- Racial Justice Materials. Just as there have been seemingly limitless resources for COVID, daily, there are new materials related to Racial Justice. Here is one link from the Sisters of Saint Joseph (Thank you, Jack Curran, for sharing) which has many, many links that may be helpful to all of us as we navigate our way through this significant moment in our history. (Many excellent resources, of course, at our own fscDENA website.)
- Black Like Me. Late last year, a rising country singer, Mickey Guyton, composed a song based on her experience as a black woman. The song title is borrowed from the 1961 book by John Howard Griffin. The lyrics of the song have resonated very much with many during these weeks.
Please stay safe. Stay at home. Stay mindful of others. Stay amazing.
Blessings,
Richard Galvin Lawrence Goyette Dennis Lee
