Sister Jeanne McGowan, and La Salle Academy graduate, Nasir Haqq.

Philadelphia, PA – La Salle Academy celebrated its 15th anniversary at a Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday, November 5. The Mass of Thanksgiving was held at St. Michael’s Church and celebrated by the founding pastor, Rev. Herbert J. Sperger. Sister Jeanne McGowan, SSJ, reflected after Communion, highlighting the most important words of the day, “Thank You.” She thanked the De La Salle Brothers, Sisters of St. Joseph, Board Members, Fr. Sperger as well as present and former faculty members. A highlight was the student body who joined voices to sing the school pledge which had been put to music this past summer by Mr. Darin Williams, music teacher. Sr. Jeanne posed with Br. Gerard Molyneaux, a member of the Board of Trustees along with Nasir Haqq who graduated from La Salle Academy and West Catholic Preparatory High School, and currently serves as a United States Marine.

(You may remember Nasir when he was spotlighted in our Lasallian Visions October 2015 edition, as a graduate from West Catholic.)

One impressive graduate visited today…Nasir, I am beyond proud of you! You inspired the students to see that hard work pays off!
