There may have been another time in the past 30 or 40 years when three brothers — or three sisters — were named to the same Journal All-State first team in some sport. But I don’t remember it and if it has happened, it’s very rare. But there’s no question the Manown brothers all deserved to be All-Staters.
John, a senior this spring, was a National Lacrosse Coaches Association All-American defender. He was a backbone of the La Salle defense during the Rams’ three-year state title run. Joe, a junior this season, was named a high school All-American for the second straight year after being the Interscholastic League Division I scoring leader with 39 goals and 34 assists. Matt, a sophomore midfielder, was the third-leading scorer for the Rams with 22 goals and 15 assists.
