Troy, NY – La Salle Institute faculty and staff gathered to celebrate the graduating class in a socially distant event.

The Senior Recognition Day was in place of the formally scheduled graduation.

Cadets and their families stayed in their cars while the ceremony took place.

The school’s principal said it was all about recognizing the students who had to adapt to a number of changes.

“I don’t want to make excuses but I do want to apologize to all of them, tell them I’m sorry about all the stuff that they missed out on,” said Principal Joseph Raczkowski. “I mean you know, your senior year, I remember my senior year. It was a wonderful time especially as it was coming to an end. They don’t get to celebrate that.”

The actual graduation ceremony is currently planed for July 24.
