District’s Association for Mission Committee conducts mini-conference for over 35

4/8/13 – Riverdale, NY – More than 35 Lasallian Animators from ministries throughout the District of Eastern North America assembled at Manhattan College for group sharing and formation.

After introductions and a brief period of getting to know one another, participants broke off into four smaller groups to describe formation programs and events they had conducted, sharing how the programs had a positive impact in their ministry. Participants also shared moments of challenge, and hopes for goals they had yet to complete with their Lasallian colleagues. This small group session allowed for idea sharing and exploration for solutions and best practices. The groups then revealed the fruits of their discussions to all the animators gathered. A break for lunch allowed for old and new acquaintances alike to have some informal bonding time.

Following lunch, Br. Frederick Mueller, FSC, Director of Special Programs Development and Lasallian Animator for La Salle Academy, Providence, conducted a presentation, in which he discussed foundational principles of Lasallian education, as well as core criteria needed for strong Lasallian formation programs. Br. Fred also discusses different programs conducted at La Salle Academy, outlining constituents served, and how their needs are addresses, and how similar programs might be implemented in other ministries. The gathering concluded with a Lasallian Education branding efforts update, and closing prayer.
Special thanks to all of the Lasallian Animators that participated, and to their ministy’s administration for sending them to this important gathering!
