11/8/10 – Providence, RI / Staten Island, NY – On Monday,November 8th, the Rhode Island Lasallian Association Group (RILAG) held its annual Commissioning Ceremony. At the Brothers’ residence on the La Salle Academy campus, RILAG members from the area schools and ministries, which include La Salle Academy, San Miguel School, Tides Family Services, Ocean Tides School, and St. Raphael Academy, renewed their promise to their mission statement, and the larger Lasallian Mission. Brother Ernest Miller, Associate Executive Director for Mission and Ministry also joined the RILAG group, and offered a reflection during the ceremony.
The following day, the Lasallian Association of Metropolitan Area Schools (LAMAS) held their first gathering at St. Peter’s Boys High School, in Staten Island, New York. LAMAS member Cecilia Gottsegen prepared the evening prayer service, and facilitated the group’s discussion on Circular 461, the Brothers of the Christian Schools’ guiding document on the topic of Association. LAMAS members, from Lasallian schools throughout New York City, the five boroughs, and Long Island, joined by Auxiliary Visitor Jerome Sullivan, FSC, were encouraged to follow the six District delegates sent to Rome for the CIL Session, focusing on the topic of Association.
