Cohort V of DENA completes the 3 year formation program

3/15-17/12 – Pocono Manor, PA —Tucked away in the Pocono mountains of Pennsylvania, 60 Brothers and Partners gathered for their last weekend together as Cohort V of the Lasallian Leadership Institute formation program.

Presented by the Christian Brothers Regional Office, the Lasallian Leadership Institute (LLI)

“integrates and promotes the Lasallian heritage in the personal and professional lives of ministry leaders as future catalysts of the Lasallian mission. The three-year program consists of a one-week session during the summer and a weekend session in the fall and in the spring. Each year focuses on a particular theme:

  • Year I—Creative Fidelity to the Founding Story,

  • Year II—Spiritual Leadership in Lasallian Ministries, and

  • Year III—Lasallian Leadership in the Educational Community.”

During the weekend at Pocono Manor Inn, participants continued their work on Lasallian projects and plans for project implementation at each of their ministries, while taking time for prayer and to socialize in the evenings. The Cohort was joined by the Chrsitian Brothers Community Directors, who were on premises for their Directors’ Workshop. Brothers and Partners banned together to cheer for Saint Mary’s College’s team, a Lasallian college, in the NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Championship (unfortunately, the team from Moraga, CA, was defeated in the tournament).

Over the past three years, participants have learned about the history of The Institute and current realities in the Lasallian world, and been educated and engaged by dynamic presenters, including Brother Thomas Johnson, FSC, Vicar General for the Institute. Br. Thomas led participants through this final weekend of LLI, before they officially graduated, and were commissioned during a closing prayer ceremony.
