Washington, DC – DC-area alumni of Lasallian universities from across the country joined San Miguel students and staff for a day of service as part of the Christian Brothers’ Conference 4th Annual Spring Into Action initiative.

Spring into Action is an annual call to action, which highlights volunteerism across the Lasallian ministries. Volunteers from St. Mary’s in California, La Salle University in Pennsylvania, and Christian Brothers University in Memphis also toured San Miguel and learned about its mission.

Lasallian Service Day marks the first partnership between San Miguel and Catholic Charities Cup of Joe Project. The Cup of Joe Project provides on-the-go breakfast packages to clients at one of the five emergency shelters operated by Catholic Charities. Breakfast packages provide homeless individuals with nutrition and sustenance to take with them as they look for work, seek medical care, or search for more permanent housing. Our Lasallian volunteers packed over 430 bags with granola bars, mini-muffins, packaged peaches, and other breakfast items, which supplied their largest shelter with breakfast for one day.
