5/18/2011 – Staten Island, NY– Around fifty-nine La Sallian Youth students at St. Peter’s, along with several faculty members and Brothers, attended an 8:00 A.M. Pinning Ceremony/ Prayer Service in the school chapel. Thirteen Seniors and eleven Juniors were recognized for doing thirty hours of Community Service. The La Sallian Youth members planned and conducted the prayer service.
Community Service included the following:
- First Friday of each month Food Drive and then delivering the
Food collected to food pantries in local parishes. - Midnight Run on January 29, 2011 to Manhattan to deliver
clothes and food to the homeless. - Spring, Fall and Winter Clothing Drive in conjunction with
Project Hospitality on Staten Island. - Christmas Toy Drive – “Toys for Tots.”
- Cleaning and sprucing up the Lourdes Grotto in back of the
Brothers’ House. - Baby Shower Drive – collecting baby formula food, diapers
and baby wipes in conjunction with the Crossroad Foundation,
for women in need.
La Sallian Youth Moderator, Mrs. Pat Calchi, commended the students for their generosity and service while Brother James Kelly, President, pinned the students and Mr. John Fodera, Principal, congratulated them for fostering the La Sallian spirit at St. Peter’s.
