Dear Brothers and Lasallians,
One of my most meaningful Lenten seasons was just over thirty years ago in 1989 when I had the privilege of making a Lasallian experience, popular at the time, at the Sangre De Cristo Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Located in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains just north of Santa Fe, NM, the Center was a place of renewal, refoundation, and rediscovery for brothers, sisters, and priests. It was founded in 1962 to provide a continuing formation experience for religious men and women on their inner and outward journeys as they sought to refresh themselves in service to Jesus and the Gospel.
How many of us have had the luxury of going to the mountains for 100 days of prayer and meditation—for a re-birth of sorts?!
For most of us, just grabbing a few minutes each day to remember that we are living in God’s holy presence can be a challenge!
This Lenten season which begins on February 26th–Ash Wednesday–could be a meaningful journey for each of us if we set aside even a few minutes every day to pray, reflect, and act. Deciding, deliberately, that we need to be re-energized is half the battle, isn’t it?
