Riverdale, NY – On Saturday, April 8th, bathed in the light of the De La Salle stained glass windows, in the Chapel of De La Salle and His Brothers at Manhattan College, two new Brothers were inducted to the order. Husband and wife, Mr. Richard McKay and Mrs. Judtih Thompson McKay were presented Letters of Affiliation, the highest honor The Brothers of the Christian Schools can bestow on a lay-person, making them honorary members of the Institute.

The Brothers’ Communities of St. Peter’s Boys High School, Staten Island, NY, and St. Mary’s Secondary School and Child Rescue Centre, Nyeri, Kenya, recommended the McKays for Affiliation to the Generalate in Rome for their unwavering dedication and fundraising for the program in Kenya.

Over more than 10 years, the McKays raised more that $2 million to strengthen the Lasallian school that has been in existence since 1962. Surrounded by family, friends, and Christian Brothers, the Letters of Affiliation were presented to Richard and Judith by the District’s Brother Auxiliary Visitors Dennis Lee and Edward Phelan, St. Peter’s Community Brother Directors John McAndrews and Dominic Gisondo, and St. Mary’s Brother Headmaster Peter Kombe.
