D.C. Archbishop Recalls Lasallian Roots

Archbishop Philip Hannan of New Orleans never forgot his Lasallian roots and was very proud of his education at St. John’s College HS in Washington. In 1963, as Auxiliary Bishop of Washington, he delivered the eulogy for President Kennedy’s funeral at St. Matthew’s Cathedral. Hannan’s article regarding Lasallian education appeared 50 years ago in Lasallian Digest, Spring 1964, pp. 74-77.

Sociology Brother Talks Racial Harmony

Br. Dominic Augustine, of La Salle College’s Sociology Department, believed in racial harmony and “Black is Beautiful” before these realities became national trends. His death in December 1963 prompted this tribute in Lasallian Digest, Spring 1964, pp. 78-79.
