75 Years Jubilee, La Salle College
La Salle College ended its grand diamond (75th) jubilee year (1937-38) with commencement exercises and an alumni banquet on June 7, 1938. Five prominent former students received honorary degrees.

St. Francis Ind. School 50 Years
Summer 1938 brought a milestone to St. Francis Industrial School in Eddington, PA. On July 28, 1888, St. Francis began its 50 years of service to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. The institution has bestowed care and education for orphans, most of whom came from St. John’s Orphanage in Philadelphia, and has given them skills in carpentry, wrought-iron work, auto mechanics, electrical engineering, tailoring, and agriculture.
A lawn fete and card party for the benefit of the St. La Salle Auxiliary is planned for the afternoon of June 19 on the grounds of St. Francis Industrial School (later known as St. Francis Vocational School) in Eddington, PA.

Catechism in Toronto
In summer 1938, at the request of the archbishop of Toronto, the Brothers of the Toronto District conducted catechism schools in and around Toronto for boys attending public schools during the academic year.

50 Years for U of Scranton
The University of Scranton is just beginning its 50th anniversary year (1938-39). Founded in 1888 as St. Thomas College, the school transferred its administration to the Christian Brothers in 1897. Many events are envisioned for the jubilee celebration, the first of which will be a pontifical high Mass.

500 Dante Volumes to Manhattan
A magnificent collection of over 500 volumes on Dante has been given to Manhattan College by the late Msgr. John T. Slattery (class of 1886).

CBA Lincroft First Yearbook
The first edition of the Christian Brothers Academy (Lincroft, NJ) yearbook, Pegasus, was published in the summer to allow for the inclusion of the school’s first-ever commencement ceremony.

105 March in Toronto
On June 5, 105 boys from St. John’s Industrial School (Toronto) marched in the Holy Name Parade in that city and received good applause. They attended the exhibition afterwards.
