La Salle’s Sisters Making a Mark
The first recognizable grouping of female students in the history of La Salle College — 63 religious sisters coming for La Salle’s Sisters Science Institute in summer 1963 — received enrichment regarding their teaching of science.

Students March on Washington
” …Scholasticate life [at De La Salle College in Washington] can be serious and this was never more forcefully demonstrated than on August 28 when sixty Scholastics [student Brothers] and six faculty members led by our Director, interrupted their study of History to make history by participating in the Freedom March held in Washington; it was a day to remember.”

Archivist’s Note
This was the famous “March on Washington” to observe the 100th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation and at which Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., delivered his iconic “I Have A Dream” speech.
