St. Raymond’s HS (Bronx) boasts a new $20,000 General Electric all-transistorized flip-top language lab, which is believed to be the first kind of in the NYC area.

Newark Needs Brothers

Archbishop Boland of Newark desires the Christian Brothers to staff both the new Hudson Catholic HS (Jersey City) and St. John’s Grade School (Orange, NJ).  However, the Baltimore District replied that for the Brothers to begin their work at Hudson Catholic, they will be obliged to end their 70 years’ presence in Orange (1894-1964).

CBA Albany Building

Christian Brothers Academy (Albany) is planning to build a new administration building.

West 3rd Floor Corridor

West Philadelphia Catholic HS constructed a third floor connecting corridor — after 41 years of everyone’s traversing “extra” staircases to get from the original building to the “newer” one. In addition, the library was moved to the second floor.

Phila. Rev. Cliggett Dies

Science Lab at St. Gabriel’s Hall

A new science laboratory was erected in the school department of St. Gabriel’s Hall in Audubon, PA, and each classroom has fluorescent lighting.

Spellman Speakers Win

On May 9, the three speakers from Cardinal Spellman HS (Bronx) at the Catholic Forensics League Grand Tournament in Denver won the national championship with a team score of 75 points.

On June 5, La Salle College held its annual “P.H.T.” (“Putting Him Through”) ceremony for the wives of 1964 Evening Division graduates which includes diplomas and awards for the wives, marriage vows renewal, and Benediction.

Miami Hurricane Hits

Hurricane Cleo passed over Miami’s La-Salle-Immaculata HS for four hours during late August. Campus trees and shrubs sustained the most damage there, and the Brothers were without electricity for five days.
