Europe Brother Visit NY District
On December 21, the visitor-general of the houses of formation in Europe (Brother Agnel [sic] Isidore) visited the novitiate and junior novitiate of the New York District at Barrytown.

Manhattan 75 Years of Charter
Preparations are underway for a major event at Manhattan College for April 21. On that day the school celebrates its 75th anniversary of receiving its charter from New York State. The new Cardinal Hayes Library will be dedicated that day.

St. John’s (Ont) Retreat
The boys’ retreat at St. John’s Industrial School started on December 15 under the direction of a Redemptorist priest.

St. Mary’s Church, Jersey, Dance
On January 19, the graduates of the Catholic Institute met at a dance held in the parish hall of St. Mary’s Church in Jersey City.
Archivist’s note: The Christian Brothers taught the boys of St. Mary’s School there from 1868 to 1927.

Bingo Party at Emergency Club
A large bingo party was held by the St. La Salle Emergency Club of Orange, NJ, at St. John’s School on January 26, with proceeds benefitting the St. La Salle Auxiliary.

A card party and dance was held at Washington’s Wardman Park Hotel on February 21 by the St. John’s Mothers’ Club for the benefit of St. John’s College.

On Christmas Day, the boys of St. John’s Industrial School (Toronto) attended a matinee movie entitled “The Singing Marine.”
